The key feature in producing a professional piece of media is the research that goes behind it. To create a confident and bold piece of film i needed to look into what was expected from the film industry. As my theme for my film teaser trailer is romance with a thriller twist i had to do alot of research on youtube and many articles online on different romance trailers and thriller trailers separately and looked carefully at the different conventions used in both and the music and non diogetic sounds in the background for example and use some of the ideas i had collected in my research for my own teaser trailer to make it look and feel professional to the targeted audience.
With the research behind designing my teaser poster i used the internet to first look up general teaser posters and noted down the conventions found. I then extended this research by purely only looking at thriller / dark film teaser trailers to make sure my design ideas would relate to the target audience and the darkness of my film teaser trailer itself. Much of the research I carried out started out primary and involved asking people what looks good on a teaser poster and again with the front cover, also the detail they like to find on the two products. This was then backed up with the connotations and evaluations i had noted and completed of teaser posters and film front covers in the genre i had chosen.
Similarly with the research behind my film magazine front cover i evaluated well known film front covers online and film magazines i had purchased personally to pick out the main conventions and key features used on the cover of a selection of film magazines.
